heidi gan winning

By qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Games, Heidi became the first Malaysian to represent her country in the open water marathon swim event at the Olympic Games. Following this achievement, Heidi went on to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in the same event. With 2 Olympic Games, an Asian Championship Title and 3 x SEA Games gold medals to her name in open water swimming, Heidi has stamped her mark as the country's leading open water swimmer and one of Malaysia's all-time most successful swimmers.

While previously known in Malaysia for her pool swimming achievements (multiple SEA Games medalist, Malaysian National Record Holder and SUKMA Gold Medalist and Games Record Holder), Heidi turned her attention to open water swimming in 2010.

Under the guidance of her coach Matt Magee, Heidi soon after qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in the 10km marathon swim event, placing 16th in what was her 2nd major international open water competition.

Now a dual-Olympian, Heidi is based in Perth, Western Australia where she trains with Coach Magee at the Perth City Swimming Club.
